Stoic exercises for daily life.

The value of a philosophical exercise is not novelty. It is repetition under changing circumstances.

Control check

Separate the desired outcome from the choices that are genuinely yours.

Premeditation

Briefly imagine an obstacle before an important event, then decide how you want to respond if it happens. The goal is preparedness, not anxiety rehearsal.

Negative visualization

Temporarily imagine the absence of something ordinary you value. Use the contrast to recover attention and gratitude without pretending loss is harmless.

View from above

Zoom out from the immediate drama. Place the event in a wider frame: the week, the year, the city, a human lifespan.

Evening review

Ask: Where did judgment improve today? Where did impulse lead? What would a better response look like next time?

Use it on something real.

The point is not to sound Stoic. The point is to judge more clearly and choose a better action while life is happening.
